With information and activities targeting a variety of ages, this event has become a popular family outing and is a can't-miss opportunity to show children how fun science can be!
The inaugural Corpus Christi Science Saturday will take place on April 21st at Del Mar College. This free event is designed to our community a chance to visit and discover the type of scientific research facilities we have in our city, meet local researchers and scientist, and participate in various learning activities. We hope to continue this event in the future, rotating between Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and Del Mar College. The event is organized by the The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Chapters at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and Del Mar College has the goal of increasing diversity and fostering the success of minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We encourage our students to attain advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM. At the same time, we promote that our members maintain and embrace their culture throughout their careers to build a more inclusive and diverse STEM workforce. Part of what we do is reach out to the community, participate in science education and mentorship, to encourage kids in our community to take interest in STEM and expose them to diverse scientist.
